What a beautiful Bubble Cut Barbie. Bubbles are not generally known for being absolutely stunning, but this one is an exception. She’s got tons of dark brunette hair in an angled style that gives her a high fashion sultry look.

This is the nicest Ken doll I’ve ever seen. He’s minty and fresh in every way. Ken’s been sealed up in a vinyl Barbie case since the 60’s and now he’s ready to party.

The Barbie Fashion
series is the absolute best vintage Barbie resource book for Barbie fashions from 1959 to 1967 and follow-up books for fashions from 1968 to 1979. No collector can be without these books.
I was stunned to learn that new copies are no longer available on Amazon. I don’t know if it’s out of print now or what, but these books will become “collectors items” themselves because of low availability just like so many Barbie resource books have.
If you’re interested in having the series, now is the time to get your copy. I promise you, the prices will skyrocket the longer they’re out of print. You can also check for it on eBay
and possibly get a lower price.
Vintage Babs has a very detailed list of resource books for Vintage Barbie. See it here.

I’m not able to throw anything away that is vintage Barbie, even if it’s a sticky version of one of those MOD “space age” outfits that was made from some kind of weird material that sticks together and bleeds all over itself. I am hopeful with all the talented doll artists we have out there, that some of these damaged vintage Barbie items can be used in their OOAK creations or that they’ll find a home in some collector’s china cabinet on a Ponytail and no one is the wiser to the big stain on the back.
There are some new bargain lots here at Vintage Babs.

How often do you see one of vintage Barbie’s necklaces in this good of shape with rich color and lots of gloss? And this is one of the almost impossible to find pink graduated necklaces. It only came with three outfits, one of the very first fashions, #966 Plantation Belle, and then not again until four years later, #993 Sophisticated Lady, followed by #1616 Campus Sweetheart.

Barbie’s gray poodle was as big a fashionista as Barbie herself. 1613 Dogs n Duds is an adorable vintage fashion that includes the dog’s basic needs like dog food, bowl and a bone as well as fancy coats, ear muffs, a tutu (yes!) and a dog dress-up costume to match Barbie, Ken and Skipper’s Masquerade fashions.
The Bild Lilli dolls sometimes included poodles from Steiff. I think this was probably Barbie’s answer to that.
This outfit is rarely complete because of all the little accessories. Buy the near mint complete fashion here at Vintage Babs.

One of the collectors favorites, In the Swim from 1964. This fashion really brings out the dramatic “Audrey Hepburn” fashion sense of the period with its big flouncy hat, over-the-top scarf and gold heels — all to accompany a swimsuit.
There are orange, pink and blue versions of this fashion, all of them very hard to find, and usually with a very malformed hat. The hat definitely was not made for longevity. But when Barbie wears it, it’s mostly the big dramatic scarf showing anyway.

Because of the elusive tiny Barbie doll and her matching checked skirt, you don’t often see this outfit complete. Skipper fashion #1913 Me N My Doll is one of the cutest themes of vintage Barbie fashions. In a Twilight Moment twist, Skipper has her very own “Barbie doll” to play with. The outfit is decorated with colorful floral appliqué and matches Barbie’s Dancing Doll fashion.
Trivia: The miniature Barbie doll was meant to be a Swirl Barbie.
